The flyer above is from Easter Saturday 18th April 1992. Good friends Peter Glass, Paul Carroll & Bruce Drysdale are throwing a one off party in Peter Dolso’s Warehouse at Dick st Chippendale. The order of the day is pure jazz funk soul & rare grooves with djs Paul Carroll, Trevor Parkee & Peter (furniture) Firmager. 500 people turn up, we sold out of grog, drove the old ladies down the road mad, kept the police busy all night, made a load of lucre, created an unholy mess and had a blinding time!… a few months later we do it all again under the same banner of Funkinc and this time over 800 turn up. Funkinc has quickly cemented itself as Sydney's number one underground soul, jazz, funk & rare groove party.
Fast forward 17 years to 2009 and Funkinc has had far too many parties and collaboration to list. You know who you are and how much you contributed! However, Miss Annie & the SoulShaker dj’s Mr Glass & Robin Knight now represent the Modern Funkinc of post 2000. Although the illegal warehouses and dubious alcohol sales have fallen by the side, the soul & funk remain and have been joined by a strong Disco-Boogie element. It’s a fair call to say that we are (by a country mile) the longest running and still the best lil’ disco in town.
I can ramble for pages with wonderful stories and the impressive inventory of performing guest over the years but I believe the flyers & photos tell the story far better than words ever will… oh, just one comment, are we the only party that offered sea plan joy flights at 7am? Now that was fun….
Originally we had re-appropriated, (borrowed maybe?) the "Funkinc" art from the Indianapolis 70's band Funk inc. We had no intention for this party to go on for 17 years! A big shout out and much respect to the Original Funk inc (1969 to 1976) Bobby Watley, Eugene Barr, Steve Weakly, Jimmy Munford and Cecil Hunt. I would like to believe that through our events and the promotion of soul, jazz, funk that we have helped with sales of your back catalogue: Chicken Lickin', Hangin' Out, Superfunk, Priced to Sell, Urban Renewal, Funk inc.

From the dirty record box that thrust Funkinc upon you cums.....
Beat perverts: Mr. Glass, Robin Knight, & Frenzie get between the sheet on this collaboration. Warning! this aint for purist and it aint pretty. A colour climax of 12” pleasures massaged into position with modern day digital down loads, tap beer, salty nuts and scratchy 45’s
